Check out my New Day Knit Bag!

Being able to keep making and designing by knitting while unable to crochet has given me a sense of optimism again, so the name is in keeping with the whole “Brand New Day” vibe I have going on right now... Our Australian summer being just around the corner also helps with the positivity!

Ta dah!!!!

Scheepjes Cahlista (colour 385 Crystalline) re-purposed into this handy little take-everywhere bag!

You will be able to find this pattern FREE here on my blog next week (and it will be also available on my Peppergoose Ravelry & Etsy stores as an ad-free PDF download for a small fee if you would like to support my design work).

Here are some more photos to show the little details…

You will only need 2 balls of Scheepjes Cahlista (50g/85m) or 1 skein of Skies Heavy (100g/170m) to make this project, along with a small amount of ribbon. You will also need some haberdashery tid-bits if you want to line it like I did and will include all that detail in the pattern. I think lining is a good option for extra strength though that does involve some (eek – I know it’s a pet-hate for many) ...hand sewing… so I have been sure to take lots of photos during the project to show with the PDF pattern ;)

I hope you love it as much as I do! An hour after I finished this bag, I popped my phone and small wallet in and headed out the door to meet an old friend for coffee and give it a test run – totally LOVE it!! Just big enough for a phone, wallet and keys with a long strap to wear over one shoulder or as across the body.

Changing up the proportions of the bag rectangle shape and strap length would be easy to do, and I think it would make a lovely gift in the lead up to Christmas!

See you next week when my #newdayknitbag pattern goes live!

I got my yarn for this project from Yarns for All which is one of my local Scheepjes Retailer here in Perth, but if you have a sudden need for Cahlista or Skies Heavy cottons then click here for Scheepjes retailers worldwide, or you might shop by these affiliate links below (this does not cost you any extra but I receive a small percentage of the sale): Caros Atelier (in the Netherlands)

Wool Warehouse (in the UK; ships worldwide)

Now to go work on some pattern edits to make sure it’s all ready to go in time…

Susan (Peppergoose)
